About the programme

A visual identity becomes professional when it works as a usable system.

This is not simply graphics-software training. Participants learn the design logic, visual coherence, practical application, and documentation required to turn brand elements into a comprehensive guide that preserves quality across touchpoints.

What you take away

From disconnected visual choices to one coherent, presentable Brand Book.

01

Visual-identity logic

Connect concept, audience, brand character, and visual decisions rather than relying on taste alone.

02

Identity system

Design and evaluate logo, colour, typography, image, pattern, and other elements as one coordinated system.

03

Application rules

Define correct and incorrect use, proportions, spacing, composition, and the behaviour of the identity across touchpoints.

04

AI-assisted research and ideation

Use ChatGPT for research, sharper questions, organising ideas, and challenging decisions—not as a substitute for design judgement.

05

Professional critique

Develop exercises and the final project through direct feedback, analysis of recognised Brand Books, and a specialist guest session.

06

Portfolio-ready outcome

Create a coherent, presentable Brand Book that can serve as a final project, professional portfolio piece, or real brand guideline.

Proposed learning areas

10 sessions to design a visual identity and develop a Brand Book through learning, practice, and feedback.

These learning areas are covered across 10 sessions. Regular sessions last 2 hours; practical sessions may last up to 4 hours.

  1. 01

    Visual identity as a system

Understand the role of identity, coherence, practical use, and the relationship among brand elements.

  2. 02

    Research, concept, and ideation

Frame the problem, collect references, develop a conceptual direction, and use ChatGPT practically in research and idea development.

  3. 03

    Designing identity elements

Work with logo, typography, colour palette, image, pattern, and the rules that create a coherent visual language.

  4. 04

    Turning design into guidelines

Define usage logic, restrictions, correct and incorrect examples, and identity behaviour across media and touchpoints.

  5. 05

    Developing the Brand Book

Structure, lay out, and produce a comprehensive, professional, presentable document in Adobe Illustrator.

  6. 06

    Critique, refinement, and presentation

Analyse recognised examples, especially in gold and jewellery, receive instructor and guest feedback, and prepare the final presentation.

Final project

Final Brand Book

Each participant designs and develops a comprehensive visual-identity guideline as a coherent, presentable Brand Book. Whether the final project uses a real brand or a fictional brief is still being decided and will be confirmed before the course starts.

Instructor

Mohsen Asgari

Branding designer and creative director

Mohsen Asgari is a branding designer and creative director whose work treats identity as more than a standalone logo: marks, typography, colour, image, motion, and spatial experience become one coherent language. His portfolio spans Tina Shams, DIDAR GOLD, ŌN Project, The Tbilisi Edition, Bazzelli, and Fereshteh Rostamian. Branding Design turns that approach into a workshop process for designing a visual identity and documenting it as a Brand Book.

Selected work

Six projects. Six different scales of identity building.

The selection opens with three projects directly connected to DIDAR and jewellery: Tina Shams, DIDAR GOLD, and ŌN Project. Mohsen Asgari designed the logo and identity for all three. Fereshteh Rostamian, The Tbilisi Edition, and Bazzelli extend the view across jewellery, hospitality, and fashion.

Four project images come from Mohsen Asgari’s official portfolio; the Tina Shams and DIDAR GOLD logos come from the brands’ official sources.
